Cookie Consent Banner: Troubleshooting & FAQs
The banner keeps showing to the same visitor
The consent status is stored in a browser cookie. If the visitor is browsing in Incognito/Private mode or has cookies blocked, the banner will re-appear on every visit. This is by design and is GDPR-compliant behavior.
The banner doesn't appear at all
Check that the plugin is activated. Also check if a caching plugin is serving a cached version without the banner. Clear all caches and test in an Incognito window.
Is this plugin fully GDPR compliant?
The free version covers the basic requirement of notifying users and recording consent. Full GDPR compliance (especially under stricter interpretations) requires granular consent per cookie category — this is available with the Pro version.
The Decline button is not blocking tracking scripts
The free version records the visitor's choice but does not automatically block third-party scripts. To conditionally load analytics or marketing scripts based on consent, use the Pro version's Google Consent Mode v2 integration.
Can I change the consent duration?
Yes — go to Settings → Cookie Consent and set the Consent Duration (days) field to any value between 1 and 365.
